Love is a losing game

For you I was a flame,
Love is a losing game
Five story fire as you came,
Love is losing game
One I wish I never played,
Oh, what a mess we made
And now the final frame,
Love is a losing game
Played out by the band,
Love is a losing hand
More than I could stand,
Love is a losing hand
Self professed, profound
Til' the chips were down
though you’re a gambling man
Love is a losing hand
Tho' I battled blind,
Love is a fate resigned
Memories mar my mind,
Love it is a fate resigned
Over futile odds,
And laughed at by the gods
And now the final frame,
Love is a losing game

Ciao Francesca

Ciao cara, seeing as we're in the mood for poetry/lyrics. Older and wiser now, but we are the sum of our experiences...

Revolving Days

That year I had nowhere to go, I fell in love – a mistake
of course, but it lasted and has lasted.
The old tug at the heart, the grace unasked for, urgencies
that boom under the pocket of a shirt. What I remember
is the colour of the shirts. I’d bought them
as an experiment in ways of seeing myself, hoping to catch
in a window as I passed what I was to be
in my new life as lover: one mint green, one
pink, the third, called Ivy League, tan
with darker stripes, my first button-down collar.

We never write. But sometimes, knotting my tie
at a mirror, one of those selves I had expected
steps into the room. In the next room you
are waiting (we have not yet taken back the life we promised to pour into each other’s mouths forever and for ever) while I chose between
changes to surprise you.
Revolving days. My heart
in my mouth again, I’m writing this for you, wherever you are, whoever is staring into your blue eyes. It is me, I’m still here. No, don’t worry, I won’t appear out of
that old time to discomfort you. And no, at this
distance, I’m not holding my breath for a reply.

oh...how touching.
love is a losing game.
What a cliche.
Perhaps a nose piercing would cheer you up?

You should take all traces
all evidence of participation
snow globes, and cheap icebox magnets
emails,digital photos and cyber shadows
and toss them in earnest,
into a burning pile of memories
throw in some old designer clothes
a bit of petrol, to make sure

be sure to say a prayer as you do
as, how you feel in your heart
will affect what comes back around
to bite you

or
you could try
skipping them
across some frozen lake
in the bitter cold
from your walk-in closet
that a village in India would be comfortabe in

you seriously dissappoint me
thought you were a friend...
now I know

Whine away
poor victim

Tho I a lutté des aveugles,
